Friday with Friends

Friday with Friends is on Thursday, November 20th , at noon. We will be featuring the author Lynn Pechuekon who is an historian and author residing in scenic Harpers Ferry. She lives in the Saunders home one block away from the former college and operates a small bed and breakfast there with her husband Christian. She frequently gives talks and tours on Harpers Ferry Black heritage, covering Reconstruction through Civil Rights. She recently received the 2026 Arts & Letters Award presented by the Eastern Panhandle Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc.

About the Presentation: The Hill Top House Hotel was for generations a beloved Harpers Ferry destination with an iconic view. Yet, few guests knew that it was founded in 1890 by an enterprising AfricanAmerican couple. Lynn’s presentation will overview their fascinating 35-year span as owners of a segregated whites-only resort during the early decades of the Jim Crow era.
