Dear Friends, Two centuries ago, a quasi-believer took the Bible and edited it, creating his own special version. He took out all the references to the supernatural. The Bible was merely, then, the moral teachings of Jesus. The closing words of this Bible were these: “There they laid Jesus and rolled a great stone in front of the mouth of the tomb and departed.” What a sad ending! Imagine for a moment if this were true. What a terrible place we would find ourselves in. Without the resurrection, we would have no comfort that everlasting life awaits us at the close of this life. We would be continually in fear at the prospect of death because, without the resurrection, death would be the final exit. Death would be the victor, and we the vanquished, swallowed up in its jaws.
