Dear Friends,

Rooted in Love, Grounded in Grace, Growing for God

As we enter the fourth month of the new year, we need to remind ourselves of words that affirm. There can be many places where we read or have heard words that pain our heart. So it is very important for us to hear and listen to words that affirm great spiritual truths.

One of the greatest statements that I have ever heard, we celebrate at this time of the year-“Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but He has risen.” (Luke 24:6) Or how about this statement of life, “So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were…Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.” (John 20: 19-20). [Read more…]

Dear Friends,

As we enter the third month of the new year, we need to be aware that we have lived through a historic year. As we continue into this year with the concerns and difficulties of the past year, let us be clear that we will continue to get by, that we will continue to overcome, only with the grace of the Almighty God.

In the twelfth month of the pandemic, it is fair to say that many have reacted in a manner that has been difficult. The pandemic and the election have fractured many relationships and hurt many people.

February’s Newsletter

Dear Friends,

As we enter the second month of the new year, we need to be aware that we have lived through a historic year. As we continue into this year with the concerns and difficulties of the past year, let us be clear that we will continue to prevail, that we will continue to overcome, only with the grace of the Almighty God. As such, I will be teaching a Thursday night Bible Study on the nature and practice of prayer.

January Newsletter

As we enter a new year, we, as a society, always do a year in review. We look at significant events such as milestones or sad events such as loved ones who have left us and moved onto eternity. We review where we have been and where we are going. We look at how we responded to the events found in our lives.

These last nine months have been unlike any period in our lifetimes. As one of my  friends put it, “We are living in history, and we know it.” How so true! Often we realize  that this is significant history after the fact. Here we have had the opportunity to experience a  unique situation as we are living it.

December Newsletter

Dear Friends,

As we approach Advent, which begins on November 29, we are truly looking forward this year. We are looking forward to an end to this pandemic. We are looking forward to the return to normalcy. We are looking forward to a vaccine. We are looking to stay safe and secure. We are looking to find a place of calm and peace. We are looking to have this weight removed from our heart and our mind.

November Newsletter

Dear Friends,
As we complete seven months of dealing with the COVID-19 concerns and issues, I would like to point out that the call of Christian purpose has never been clearer. In the middle of all of this, the Apostle Paul’s call has still been the best response to this whole crisis—In Everything Give Thanks, for this is the will of God for you in Christ Jesus (1 Thessalonians 5:18).
