Dear Friends,

As we close out this year, we Presbyterians have had a vibrant impact in our society. In these columns, we have looked at what makes Presbyterians so unique and impactful in our society.

We Presbyterians are a very orderly people. We are a people of the Book meaning the Bible where we gain insight into how to live. We are also a people of the Book in another way—it is referring to the two books that make up the Constitution of the Presbyterian Church. The first is the Book of Confessions and the second is the Book of Order. The Book of Confessions is based on the Bible while the Book of Order may not swerve away from the Bible.

Dear Friends,

As we close out this year, we Presbyterians have had a vibrant impact in our society. In these columns, we have looked at what makes Presbyterians so unique and impactful in our society.

One of our rallying cries out of the Reformation was Sola Scriptura which means Scripture Alone. For us, the Scriptures are the set of rules and responsibilities for the church.

Rooted in Love, Grounded in Grace, Growing for God

As we enter the fourth month of the new year, we need to remind ourselves of words that affirm. There can be many places where we read or have heard words that pain our heart. So it is very important for us to hear and listen to words that affirm great spiritual truths.

One of the greatest statements that I have ever heard, we celebrate at this time of the year-“Why do you seek the living among the dead? He is not here, but He has risen.” (Luke 24:6) Or how about this statement of life, “So when it was evening on that day, the first day of the week, and when the doors were shut where the disciples were…Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’ And when He had said this, He showed them both His hands and His side. The disciples rejoiced when they saw the Lord.” (John 20: 19-20). [Read more…] about April’s Newsletter

Dear Friends,

During the season of Advent, I have been highlighting the scripture messages as filtered through a classic Christmas movie.  We have stood with Charlie Brown and asked the real meaning of Christmas.  We have watched miracles unfold before our eyes both on 34th street in New York City and in the city of David, Bethlehem.  We have experienced how God can use the outcast for His heavenly purposes.  We have allowed the love of God to expand our hearts to the place of compassion.  As we have embraced the Christ child, we have realized that we do have a wonderful life in Christ…
